June Flower, Hortensias

There’s something undeniably majestic about hortensias.

Puffy and elegant, they offer a rich texture and volume that instantly elevate any floral design. June is their time to bloom: appearing in soft pastels, bold pinks, deep blues and antique greens. Whether freshly opened or already fading into their vintage hues, they bring a sense of fullness and quiet romance to any bouquet.

As a floral designer, I find hortensias endlessly inspiring for everything from intimate gatherings to large-scale events.

These past few days, I’ve been exploring hortensias in a more sculptural way - treating them almost like clay.

Their generous, cloud-like heads and layered petals invite play - not only with color, but with volume and form. I love how a single stem can shift the energy of a composition, creating relief and movement.

It’s a flower that feels alive in your hands, perfect for adding presence to floral installations or refining the mood of a set design.

What makes hortensias especially remarkable is their versatility.

They adapt beautifully across different moods and settings - from lush garden-inspired arrangements to more minimalist, conceptual pieces. Whether I’m working on bouquets, immersive set designs or floral scenography for events, hortensias offer a generous base to build from.

This month, they are my muse - a reminder to embrace both structure and softness in everything I create.
