Why Mosaic?

When I started thinking about a name for my creative floral studio, I knew it had to reflect more than just a business - it needed to capture my world. There were a few essentials:

  • It had to be easily researchable,

  • Simple to pronounce in English, French (my mother tongue), and Spanish (my hometown’s language);

  • And most importantly, it needed to represent my universe of floral design, colour and emotion.

Not the easiest mission, to say the least.

I started exploring ideas for invented words. At one point, “Botanicum” seemed like a good fit - botanical, niche, a nod to nature.

But it felt too academic, almost clinical. As a flower designer, I work with emotion, instinct, beauty. That name didn’t speak to me.

I let it rest for a few weeks.

Then, one day, I returned to what inspires me most: the flowers themselves. I looked through images of my bouquets and couldn’t stop thinking about my obsession with colours. I don’t just like them - I adore them.

Vibrant, rich, unexpected combinations. Colours are at the heart of my work as a floral artist.

My style is not minimalist or monotone - I love contrasts, layering, mixing patterns and textures. That’s what gives each arrangement its soul.

To get inspired, I began cutting letters from magazines, rearranging them, letting intuition lead. After hours of wordplay, one name appeared:

Mosaic.

I showed it to my husband. He instantly said: “That’s it!”

I wasn’t 100% sure - I rarely am - but something about it felt right. I let the name infuse into my daily life. I said it out loud. I imagined it on business cards, email signatures…

And then something clicked: Gaudí, the legendary Catalan architect known for his colourful mosaic art, came to mind. The word “Mosaic” is the same in Catalan, a perfect nod to the place I call home.

When I design bouquets, I often photograph them against vibrant walls. It’s not just about the flowers - it’s about how colour, texture and shape create a story. Like a mosaic, each flower, stem, and leaf adds to a greater whole.

That’s how Mosaic, my floral studio, was born - out of love for colours, a passion for mix-and-match aesthetics, and the desire to create floral art that speaks from the heart.
